Mrs. Hawkins's
Website
Neither you nor the world knows what you can do until you have tried. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Mrs. Haley (Wirth) Hawkins grew up in Erie, IL but currently resides in Cordova, IL with her husband, Jason, their children, Jackson (13) and Maxwell (11), dog, Wrigley (6), three outside cats, Sister Cat, Frank, and Twyla, and a turtle named Steve French. After graduating from Augustana College with degrees in Secondary Education and in Mathematics, Mrs. Hawkins found teaching opportunities in Cambridge, IL and Rock Island, IL. Now, Mrs. Hawkins is back home teaching in Erie, where life just makes sense. This is her eleventh year teaching in Erie but 20th year altogether. While she has coached basketball, volleyball, and track & field for the districts she has taught in, Haley is currently coaching her youngest son's 6th grade basketball team in Riverdale. She is also co-sponsor of NHS with Mrs. Buri and the ACT State Testing Coordinator for EHS. In December 2019, Mrs. Hawkins graduated with her Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Eastern Illinois University. Her research, the Efficacy of Approaching Homework as a Formative Self-Assessment in a High School Mathematics Classroom, has been published by the university and earned her the King-Mertz Research/Creative Activity Award of Excellence in the College of Education. In the near future, Mrs. Hawkins plans to eventually pursue her PhD in education through the University of Iowa. Mrs. Hawkins is very close with her family, most of which still reside in Erie, and she couldn't be any more proud of all of her nephews and nieces. Check out the pictures below of her some of her most favorite people (and animals)!
